Solarlux started with an idea when two ambitious entrepreneurs, Heinz Theo Ebbert and Herbert Holtgreife, created the concept for the world’s first modern bi-folding door system - sketched on a beermat.
Within a couple of years their idea of a folding glass wall for balconies became a reality. Moving forward, this idea transcended traditional norms for living by creating a versatile glazing solution for large openings like nothing ever seen before and together with their slender profiles, create smooth transitions between inside and outside.
Consistency and tradition is key to any businesses success and today, Solarlux is run by a new generation Herbert’s son, Stefan and the company has over 1000 employees worldwide.
For 40 years Solarlux has stood for outstanding quality, design, materials and manufacturing. Our bi-folding door offers a smooth transition between the inside and the outside, with generous glass fronts that can be opened across almost 100% of their area, the bi-folding door lends living spaces a unique ambience. Unlike traditional sliding doors, which can leave a large section of the opening covered by glass even when fully open, the individual elements of the bi-folding door gather up into a slender bundle of panels to one side – thus guaranteeing unrestricted views.
Solarlux offers choice of both insulated and non-insulated bi-folds, wood or aluminium in a choice of 30 RAL colours as standard and dual colour, various configurations opening inside or outside, opening to the left and/or the right, even round corners and finally a selection of floor tracks including suitability for accessible living. Our aluminium range can also have a coating applied for special climate requirements such as coastal weather protection.
