Numerous builders swear by wooden building elements, as they provide comfortable living spaces with a warm touch and are also environmentally friendly. The window and façade specialist Solarlux has numerous products such as wintergardens, patio roofs, and bi-folding door systems made of the natural material in its range – as a wood/aluminium combination of high-quality wood scantlings glued several times. In addition to standard woods such as meranti, spruce, pine, silver fir, and oak, all corresponding systems can also be manufactured in numerous other types of wood in the in-house wood production facility in Melle. The following applies: Solarlux only processes wood from controlled and verifiable sources, in many cases FSC® or PEFC certified. For some time now, the hardwood Red Grandis has also been in increasing demand, and not without reason.

Red Grandis is still relatively unknown as a structural timber in the construction industry, but is gaining in importance. This is due to the numerous advantages that it brings to the window industry in particular. Red Grandis is a fast-growing plantation wood with straight growth and high strength from FSC®-controlled cultivation in Uruguay. It also has a 40 percent lower CO2 footprint compared to other hardwoods from overseas.

As a hardwood, it is robust and extremely weather-resistant, and its durability class 2 makes it comparable to oak. In addition, it has a uniform grain and structure, a homogeneous, light reddish-brown color and is practically knot-free thanks to professional plantation management. Due to the surface properties, it can be dyed in the color “Uru Oak” similar to oak. No chemical wood protection is required, even when used outdoors.
