MODERN ROOM EXTENSION AVALIS NAMED “WINNER”
The German Design Award is the German Design Council’s most prestigious award. With its worldwide spectrum of participants and international influence, it is one of the most highly esteemed awards across a wide range of industries in the design world. The Avalis room extension concept by Solarlux received the “Winner 2022” award in the “Excellent Product Design” category.
The German Design Award has identified major design trends since 2012. In the year of its tenth anniversary, the award bears the slogan “How designers think”, in the spirit of pioneering design theorists Horst Rittel and Melvin Webber. It places a special focus on the many different answers presented by designers to increasingly complex issues.
ROOM EXTENSION TO MEET THE HIGHEST AESTHETIC STANDARDS
The Avalis room extension concept by Solarlux convinced the elite jury across the board in the “Excellent Product Design” category. With the flat-canopy-based architectural solution, Solarlux offers a way to instantly expand one’s living space. The concept skilfully combines an architectural aesthetic and energy efficiency and offers a wide variety of possible uses and freedom of design.
The purist cubage with a harmonious proportional framework is freely dimensionable in size. In modular use, Avalis can be used as a detached building or an extension to an existing building.
The basis of the well-designed flat canopy is a made-to-measure wooden structure with at least five layers of lamination that offers complete protection against vapour diffusion. Rainwater is drained via a two-degree incline and runs off via a lateral drain. The sealing, insulation, shading and ventilation can all be configured prior to installation to suit the customer’s needs.
Coordinated system components ensure durability and a high degree of functionality. By combining these with a high degree of pre-fabrication, Solarlux enables short installation times. Avalis extends the living space with maximum transparency, and outstanding thermal insulation and impermeability.
