Threshold height 10 mm: Easy roll-over capability

Barrier-free floor tracks with a threshold height of only ten millimeters are available for Solarlux's aluminium bi-folding door systems. This means that Solarlux already meets the future requirements of DIN EN 18040, which will become binding in the course of the planned harmonization with the new DIN EN 17210. The new floor tracks thus enable accessible living with a foldable patio door whose wide opening allows full freedom of movement.

A total of five variants – including two minimal floor tracks – offer solutions for a wide range of structural requirements.

With the new "Smart 10" floor track generation for bi-foldings, Solarlux already meets the future required standards for level transitions in accordance with DIN EN 17210. The threshold height is only ten millimeters, without having to compromise on impermeability or safety. Additionally, the floor tracks can be adapted to existing structural conditions with either slanted or horizontal ramps, creating a consistently barrier-free transition between floor and rail.

The standard: DIN EN 17210

National standards must not contradict European regulations. Therefore, it is only a matter of time before DIN 18040 "Barrier-free building – Planning principles" is adapted to the requirements of the new DIN EN 17210 "Accessibility and usability of the built environment – Functional requirements". After its entry into force, this standard will create a uniform basis for barrier-free construction throughout Europe for the first time. One of the main innovations is that the maximum permissible height difference for door thresholds may only be ten millimetres in the future – previously it was twenty millimetres. In addition, barrier-free thresholds must be sloped or rounded in the future. These requirements apply to the planning, execution, and equipment of barrier-free apartments, residential buildings, and their outdoor facilities. Another important point is the linguistic clarification: the term "threshold-free" is replaced by "level transitions" in order to avoid unclear or absolute-looking formulations.
