Solarlux’s Megaline bi-folding door was a real hit at this year’s ICONIC AWARDS 2022: Innovative Architecture design competition, hosted by the German Design Council. Thanks to what one expert described as its “extremely elegant, modern, high-quality design”, the Megaline was awarded the title “Best of Best” in the “Product” category – an accolade reserved for the crème de la crème among the competition’s winners. With its new element heights and widths, the Megaline bi-folding door, which Solarlux launched at the start of the year, has won the title “Best of Best” in the “Product” category at the ICONIC AWARDS 2022: Innovative Architecture.  

In explaining their decision, the jury were keen to emphasise not just the product’s high-quality design, but also the new architectural possibilities it offers designers. “The new Megaline bi-folding door from Solarlux can be used to create moving window fronts up to 4.5 m in height. This throws open the door for some spectacular architectural concepts that create the perfect visual harmony between interiors flooded with light and the outdoor world around them. The aluminium profile system offers a high level of thermal insulation and a clear-cut design that lends it an elegant, modern, high-quality aesthetic and puts a distinctive twist on buildings in a wide range of styles.” 

With a maximum element height of 4.50 m and widths of up to 1.50 m, the innovative Megaline can be used to create extremely tall bi-foldings or extra-wide element pairs that no other product on the market can currently match. By way of comparison, the Highline and Ecoline bi-foldings offer designers element heights of 3.50 m and 3.00 m respectively.  In addition to this and their outstanding thermal insulation, the aluminium elements are equipped with a multi-functional “bionicTURTLE®” break profile made of fibreglass-reinforced polyamide, integrated running tracks and guide rails, and controlled drainage.
