Retreat for the outdoor season

The Acubis flat roof from Solarlux becomes a pool house

The extensive property, located in the middle of a nature reserve in the Teutoburg Forest, offered a family the opportunity to expand their home with a pool and a sheltered outdoor seating area. In the large garden, a place of relaxation and retreat has been created, bringing a holiday atmosphere into their own home.

The dream of a pool was realized by the homeowners at the end of the 3,000 square meter garden, which is directly adjacent to the meadows and forests of the nature reserve. The Acubis terrace roof from Solarlux serves as a separate pool house. It was vertically glazed and attached as a glass house to a boundary wall made of broken concrete block. In the exposed location of the extensive property, the wall offers an additional protective structure. At the same time, it conceals a shower and the pool technology.

Elegant functionality

The client's choice fell on the Acubis flat roof because "we wanted a slender, effective product that incorporates all the technical possibilities without appearing bulky," says Andrea Meinerzhagen. The internal statics of the uninsulated aluminium profile system give the flat roof a visual lightness, which is accentuated by the narrow surrounding fascia. This appears delicate, including the awning box and the 36 cm high spotlight strip.

Sophisticated engineering

The Acubis glass canopy also impressed the client with its technical features. A barely visible roof pitch of two degrees, concealed gutters, and downpipes control the drainage of rainwater. This sophisticated engineering ensures a quality of stay that reliably offers year-round weather protection. Additional extras create a pleasant atmosphere: LED spotlights – integrated into the rafters and the surrounding trim – enable evening lighting. With the help of two radiant heaters, it remains cozy inside even when it's cooler outside.

Individual shady spot

On hot days, the glass house can be shaded all around. Both the roof and the side surfaces are equipped with custom-made awnings that guarantee effective sun protection. The slide-and-turn system from Solarlux ensures flexible ventilation, as the glass elements can be partially or completely opened. They can be easily pushed to the side, twisted open, and stowed away into a slim package. When closed, the frameless glazing offers an unrestricted view of the surroundings.

Set up within three days

After the elaborate pool work, the simple installation of the Acubis was all the more impressive. This is made possible by a flat, one-piece wall connection. The new pool house was up and running within three days and has been convincing the client ever since: "We are very satisfied with the result and have already been able to spend several holidays in our own garden. Thanks to the variably movable panes, the glass house always offers a pleasant living experience."
