Acubis wins award for innovation

Trade magazine “Garten + Landschaft” (Gardens and Landscapes) has once again announced its awards for the most beautiful gardens in the German-speaking countries and the best and most innovative product solutions for the past year. One of the winners is the Acubis flat canopy by Solarlux, a cubic glass canopy that can be used as either a stand-alone solution or an extension to an existing building.

The jury were won over by its purist design, bold shape and sleek elegance, and the wide range of applications and design options it offers – German manufacturer Solarlux’s cubic flat canopy, Acubis, is one of the most innovative products of the year for 2021 in the field of gardens and landscape architecture. 

In the sixth edition of its “Gardens of the year – the 50 most beautiful private gardens” competition, the Callwey Verlag publishing house’s magazine “Garten + Landschaft” presented and awarded the most impressive work it could find in 2021. For the past three years, the award has also paid tribute to products deserving of special distinction in garden design, or that have proven particularly useful in the world of landscape architecture. The winners were selected by an independent jury of eight experts.

Minimalist design – maximum creative freedom
The non-insulated Acubis flat canopy has raised the bar in terms of both design and functionality. With an incline of just two degrees, it is particularly impressive as an addition to cubic architectural structures, echoing and reflecting their existing motifs. However, it is also equally effective as a stand-alone unit, with a reserved aesthetic and delicate design that allows for a perfect view of its surroundings at all times. In addition to this, the slender rafters used for its internal structural reinforcement allow plenty of light into the interior. 

But it’s not just its minimalist tendencies that make the Acubis so appealing – it is also an incredibly versatile product. By simply adding vertical, moving glass elements, it can be transformed into a glazed cube that offers weather protection on all sides. The rain is drained off reliably by concealed gutters and downpipes, while steel reinforcement in the hollow chambers of its powder-coated aluminium profiles provides a high degree of stability that can withstand even extreme weather conditions.

Every Acubis is made to order. This affords the client a high degree of flexibility when it comes to the dimensions, colours and other aspects of their design, such as built-in lighting in the rafters or made-to-measure shading. With all these features, the Acubis combines a delicate, functional construction with a modern and aesthetically pleasing design that fits in effortlessly with any existing architecture.
