Perfect harmony: Solarlux’s SL 25 balcony glazing impressed the jury of the “Iconic Awards 2019: Innovative Architecture” with its comprehensive range of functions and the straight lines of its glazed aesthetic.
Protection from weather and noise, an unobstructed view and flexible opening options – the German Design Council were impressed with the Solarlux SL 25 slide-and-turn system. In addition to its sophisticated technology and excellent ease of operation, the moving glazing solution also received plaudits for its design and user experience. It shuts out noise and provides a space that can be used practically all year round. Thanks to its high degree of flexibility, the glass front even allows residents to retain the sense of openness and freedom offered by a traditional balcony. The frameless, all-glass elements slide along their tracks easily, glide around corners and can be turned to save space when parked, leaving nothing but a small bundle of glass and a 95-percent open balcony.
Thanks to the frameless, all-glass design, the system doesn’t obstruct the view at all when closed. The glazing also adds an element of architectural flair to the design when viewed from the outside – when used on high-storey buildings and balustrades, the glass elements create a perfectly flat facade. And as an added bonus, the extra outer shell protects balconies from weather and environmental factors, and provides a heat barrier for the home. As such, balcony glazing improves a building’s energy balance and ticks a lot of boxes for architects and designers of multi-storey residential buildings.
