German family-owned company Solarlux is also a firm believer in this idea. “Being family-friendly has become a key component when it comes to drawing up a personnel policy,” says Oliver Neils, Head of Human Resources at Solarlux. Solarlux has been a member of the Family Alliance in its local area of Osnabrück for almost two years. The socially conscious company has now received an award for its efforts to be a “Family-friendly employer for Osnabrück”, which see it make a monthly donation to childcare costs for local kindergartens and crèches as well as offering additional services such as emergency childcare. The company also offers flexible working hours that make it easier for parents to ensure their children are looked after.

There are a number of other benefits and offers that mark Solarlux out as an attractive employer. For us, a good work/life balance is just as important as providing a wide range of training and development schemes and a varied in-house sports programme. In addition to the fitness options available in-house, Solarlux also offers a monthly flat-rate for gym and sports club memberships. In order to ensure that all our employees feel comfortable at work in every way, Solarlux has perfected its working conditions at its new build in Melle. New jobs have been created in the Admin section and the production hall, both of which offer a pleasant work environment thanks to plenty of daylight and natural ventilation. There is also plenty of green space in the outdoor parts of the site for employees to relax, enjoy a little peace and quiet, or make private phone calls.
